Tahiti Tourisme North America 2013 Travel Agent Workshops Come to Successful Close
June 4 2013
Tahiti Tourisme North America concluded its 2013 travel agent workshop series with its final workshop in Dallas on May 23. Along with 21 participating partners, Tahiti Tourisme North America conducted 12 workshops across the U.S. and successfully trained more than 850 travel agents about the Islands of Tahiti.
The workshop series traveled to the Air Tahiti Nui/American Airlines codeshare cities of Los Angeles, San Diego, New York, Chicago, Denver, San Francisco, Scottsdale/Phoenix, Miami, Atlanta and Dallas. Workshops were also held in Newport Beach and Portland.
“We were very pleased to have face-to-face time and educate travel agents in our workshop cities,” commented Rani Chaves, Tahiti Tourisme North America. “Tahiti Tourisme North America and participating partners saw a heightened level of interest and enthusiasm in these cities, especially the smaller cities that are less visited by destination marketing offices and tourism partners. The travel agents told us they truly appreciated the opportunity to meet the partners and learn about the Islands of Tahiti.”
The Tahiti destination presentation given during the workshops emphasized culture, history, and the “Hidden Paradise” islands such as Huahine, Rangiroa, the Tuamotu atolls, the Marquesas, the Austral islands and the Gambier islands. There was also a focus on the primary niche markets including dive, yacht charters, and spa.
Many travel agents expressed a renewed interest in becoming a “Certified Tahiti Specialist” and look forward to the re-launch of the updated Tahiti Tiare Program. To continue communications with the travel agents, Tahiti Tourisme North America’s Tiare News newsletter will highlight different islands, activities, and cultural aspects that the agents may share with their clients.
A post-workshop survey is given to participating partners and travel agents. Tahiti Tourisme North America reviews and incorporates feedback from participants to help improve future promotional events.
Participating Tahiti partners included Air Tahiti Nui, the national carrier to the islands and cruise line partners CPTM Aranui and Paul Gauguin Cruises. Hotel
s and resort partners included Hilton French Polynesia, Hotel Kia Ora Resort & Spa, InterContinental French Polynesia, Le Méridien Tahiti & Bora Bora, Le Taha’a Island Resort & Spa, Maitai Hotels, Ninamu Resort, Sofitel French Polynesia and South Pacific Management Hotels, Resorts and Spa.
