North American Visitors to the Islands of Tahiti Accounted 35.4 Percent of Worldwide Arrivals For 2012

Tahiti Tourisme announces that North Americans accounted for 35.4 percent of all Tahiti visitors for 2012. Total North American arrivals end the year with a 5.4 percent increase over 2011.
North American arrivals for December 2012 to the Islands of Tahiti increased 13 percent over December 2011. North America accounted for 39.1 percent of all Tahiti arrivals for the same month.
The United States delivered 52,858 visitors, Canada delivered 7,034 visitors and Mexico delivered 1,067 visitors, for a total of 60,959 visitors and from January to December 2012.
Land arrivals excluding VFR (family & friends visiting the islands) for the same month were 3,868 passengers total, a 17.6 percent increase over December 2011. Total North American “paid room nights” for December 2012 increased to 36,721, a 15.4 percent increase over December 2011.
Easier to travel to than most imagine, Tahiti’s Faa’a International Airport is only an eight-hour flight from Los Angeles with daily nonstop flights. Tahiti is halfway between Los Angeles and Sydney, Australia, in the same time zone as Hawaii and on the same side of the International Date Line as North America.
